Olivia Smith, born and raised in Seattle, WA, has always enjoyed bringing people together and building community. In 2016, she began to view herself as a community organizer after moving back to her hometown and wanting to support the people and culture getting pushed out of the city as living expenses skyrocket. Having seen the city change over time, Olivia was motivated to root herself in movements to undo racism and all oppressive systems that keep our people exploited and unhealthy.

Olivia is an anti-racist organizer and community-builder who has been a part of several local movements, including efforts to tax the rich, and has organized with Youth Undoing Institutional Racism, No New Youth Jail Coalition, as well as other groups/campaigns that aim to expose injustice in the criminal legal system, tax system, and non-profit industrial complex. She now works with collectives that build Black Afrikan community power and self-determination, including the Black Power Epicenter / Nurturing Roots Farm, Cafe Avole, the Seattle People’s Party, and the George Jackson Freedom Coalition.

Olivia is now honored to be a part of WSOS, working with other Black and Brown folks to reclaim power and agency in public spaces. When Olivia isn’t working or spending time with others, she enjoys moving her body, making smoothies, and scrolling through TikTok.
